Recent activities

Recent MinEx CRC activities in NSW include the following:

  • A webinar to update the community on Geoscience activities in the Cobar-Lake Cargelligo area: online information session was held on 14 October 2020. A recording of the webinar is available.
  • Geological mapping was conducted in the South Cobar, Mundi, Forbes and Dubbo areas in October and November 2020.
  • An airborne electromagnetic survey was completed over the greater Cobar area.
  • 86 water samples for hydrogeochemical analysis were collected (with CSIRO) from the greater Cobar area. Each sample will be tested for ~60 analytes, with selected samples analysed by a range of isotopic and geochronological techniques.
  • The first Expression of Interest (EOI) application process for Exploration Licence Applications within the five MinEx CRC Mineral Allocation Areas was completed. It was open for six weeks (16 August to 30 September 2019).
  • A second EOI process for explorers closed on 26 June 2020.
  • An extended abstract and presentation by Chris Yeats on the MinEx CRC National Drilling Initiative (NDI) in NSW featured at the Discoveries in the Tasmanides conference (25-27 September 2019). Chris presented a similar talk to the MinEx CRC first annual conference in Perth (12‒14 November 2019) and to the SMEDG GSNSW Showcase (28 November 2019).
  • A GSNSW NDI workshop for participants and affiliates was held in Newcastle on 7 November 2019. It included presentations on each of the five NDI areas in NSW – including results of the audit and gaps reports on each area. The reports include recommendations for future work.
